Toadstools are a type of fungus. They are basically a type of mushroom. It is a group of mushrooms. Mushrooms and toadstools still have a lot of differences. You will find out in the paragraphs below!
First, let’s talk about a toadstool’s taxonomy. It’s in the Fungi Kingdom. It does not have a specific Phylum, Class, Order, Genus,or species. It does, however, have a domain called Eukaryota. That is all of a toadstool’s taxonomy.
Also, toadstools and mushrooms have a lot of differences. For example toadstools are poisonous and mushrooms are not. Usually, the cap of a toadstool is more colorful than a mushroom.Finally toadstools are not grown commercially and mushrooms are. These are some of the differences between a toadstool and a mushroom.
Finally, I will share some facts about toadstools. The most famous toadstool is the death cap (Amanita phalloides). If you eat this toadstool then you won’t survive. There is no cure for this toadstool. Another fun fact is that there is a group of toadstool called zombie fungi and they come from the genus Ophiocordyceps. These fungi can kill an insect and go inside the brain and control it. It is unknown if zombie fungi are toadstools or mushrooms. These are some fun facts about toadstools.
